MAKING THE RIGHT ROOFING DECISION
WITH THE RECENT HAIL STORM IN YOUR AREA, THERE WILL BE A NUMBER OF ROOFING CONTRACTORS YOU MAY CHOOSE FROM. FOLLOW THESE SIMPLE RULES TO AVOID A DISASTER.
1. Call the Better Business Bureau (OKC 405-239-608 or Tulsa 918-492-1266), give the name and address of contractor to check their status or follow the link at the bottom of our homepage: www.atroofing.net.
2. The contractor should have workers’ comp and general liability insurance. Insurance certificates must be sent directly from the carrier. Do not accept a copy of the certificate from a contractor.
3. A hand-nailed corrosive resistant hot-dipped roof nail is the only way we do roofs. In order to meet manufacturer’s specifications, you must use corrosive resistant nails. EG (electro-galvanized) roofing nails do not meet manufacturer’s specs and are not corrosive resistant.
4. Ask the contractor for a list of references and look at homes they have completed.
5. AT Roofing is a certified applicator and use a complete roofing system--all components match and are compatible. This allows us to offer extended warranties.
6. If the offer sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
7. On all laminated roofs, we include GAF-ELK high definition shingles, GAF-ELK shingle mate felt, ice and water shield, where needed, high profile ridge, w-valley, new plumbing pipe flashings and paint all penetrations. Other companies may use lesser grade ridge, felt, flashings, etc. in order to cut costs.
8. Make sure you can find your contractor, even after the job is completed. Check the OKC Yellow Pages and Better Business Bureau.
9. Never give any contractor money upfront.
